Meghemo Stars FC provides an opportunity for youths in Karonga to train and play football, but this is more than just a game. There are very few opportunities for them here and being part of this club gives a sense of purpose and achievement. We train four days each week and players learn football skills, discipline and they are able to enjoy being part of a team.
Also, as part of our club ethos we highlight the importance of education and all players are strongly encouraged to attend lessons. We will not select players for the team if they don’t attend at school.
This website has been created and is maintained by a friend to support our players and to promote our club to anyone who is able to assist us.
We have received donations to buy two football team strips and our players can now play in the league, but we need further funding to buy strips for the younger players and most importantly to buy football boots so that players don’t have to train and play barefoot or in unsuitable plastic shoes. We also need footballs for training and to fund logistics so that the players selected to play in matches can travel to the venues.
Our players don’t have money to be able to contribute for these necessities, but as you can see from the photos they do have a lot of energy and determination to succeed.
